Blogging for your business creates regular content, which consistently updates your website and pushes your site higher up in search results.

Most experts recommend a new blog post at least once a week.  Once you have a blog, what does it need to accomplish? Here are five business blogging goals you can hit in 2022.

Be a Subject Matter Expert

Our culture places a lot of emphasis on knowledge, and rightfully so. Someone who can speak intelligently about any given subject is encouraged to teach others what they know. Their expertise is sought out by anyone who wants to understand the subject better.

You could write a book about your field, but a blog quickly reaches a broader audience. Since knowledge on the internet is free for all, it provides an excellent resource for readers and positions the content creator as a thought leader. You can’t put a price on that kind of positive reputation.

Improve Your SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. While SEO has evolved, it’s still the gold standard for search engines to index your page. There was a time when keyword stuffing was widespread. When someone would search for a word that appeared on your site, they found your page. But that’s no longer the case.

Today, search engines like Google emphasize the quality of content rather than the overuse of keywords. It’s helpful to put together blog posts that are informative, helpful, and shareable. You may not think you have the time or the resources available to prioritize this, but if you don’t, your competition will.

Build Your Brand

Your brand is the first thing most people see when forming an opinion of your company. To keep your brand consistent, reinforcing it through your message is an essential part of the process.

Blogging helps you tell your story beyond just your logo and mission statement. In fact, not every blog should be a helpful list of tips like this one. Telling your story as a narrative can help draw people in and make them stick around. Don’t just state facts, but breathe life into what you’re selling.

Communicate with Your Audience

Blogging is an opportunity to start a conversation with your audience. Your posts can include a call to such as inviting people to comment or contact you directly. This can branch out to your social media profiles as you share your new content across various channels.

The goal of any business is to convert casual viewers into active customers. And people like to feel they’re part of a community when making important decisions. Let them share their stories and connect.

I have started and stopped this blog post a dozen times. It may be one of the most difficult blog posts I’ve ever written. When you see natural disasters happening on TV, there is a gut reaction that makes you grateful it isn’t happening for you and empathetic toward...
