5 Blogging Ideas for Farms

by | Jul 24, 2023

At dpeg Marketing Company, we love working with farms of all kinds. A u-pick farm, a horse farm, agritourism – whatever you have, we thrive on the subject and work hard to make you stand out. You may be wondering how having a blog will attract people to your farm, so we thought we would give you five blogging ideas for farms that you can use to create content on your website.

#1: Meet the Farmers

Your most important asset is the people who work on your farm. Whether the enterprise is family owned and operated or you have several employees, the people who do the work day in and day out are critical to your success. And your audience doesn’t just want to know what you do; they want to know why and how you do it. When you showcase the people behind the scenes, you humanize the experience and attract positive attention to your work and products.

#2: Numbered Lists

Lists get a lot of clicks on the internet. It has something to do with our attention span. We want digestible information that’s easy to skim when we click. When you write a top ten list, the headline will do much of the heavy lifting. Examples include:

#3: Seasonal Content

At dpeg Marketing, we love seasonal content. I enjoy writing about different holidays, with Fall and Winter being my favorite times for creating content. More than any other industry, agriculture is driven by the seasons, so you have built-in content. You even know what each season will bring, so you can plan to create content in advance.

#4: Community-Supported Agriculture

One of my favorite ways to support local farmers is purchasing a CSA. Community-supported agriculture is when customers buy shares and receive produce boxes at set times. When we first moved to Asheville, we got a CSA subscription from a farm that offered what they called “Farmer’s Market CSA.” This meant we could go to their stand at the local farmers market and pick what we wanted, which would then be subtracted from our total investment. It was a great way to support the farm and get local food. We also invested in a meat CSA from a local butcher shop. We hardly had to go to a grocery store to make excellent meals. Promoting these programs lets you connect to the community to invest.

#5: Meet the Animals

Animals are a significant draw on the internet. You can’t scroll down a social media feed without seeing cats and dogs. People love the animals on your farm, too. We have several clients with incredible animal personalities who bring in a lot of clicks and views, which boosts the reach of their message. We also showcase our animals, Amira and Toast, on our website and social media.
